Keeghan Hurley of Perham won the Class 1A boys' cross-country individual championship Saturday afternoon at St. Olaf College in Northfield. He also led Perham to the team title. With the victory, Hurley and his father, Don, become the first son and father to win state cross-country championships. Don Hurley ran for Cretin and won Class 2A titles in 1976 and 1977. Shane Streich of Waseca finished in second place while Ian Torchia of Rochester Lourdes took third. Perham placed four runners in the top 10 of the team competition. Mounds Park Academy finished in second place and St. Cloud Cathedral took third. Earlier in the day, Obsa Ali won the Class 2A boys’ cross-country individual championship. Connor Olson of Wayzata took second and Isaiah Barlow of Hutchinson finished third. Ali took first despite having his right shoe come off during the race.
